Sailing into Sicily’s Heart: Cefalù Hosts the 2025 National Area Championship and the Regatta of Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages


From 30 May to 1 June 2025, the picturesque town of Cefalù, nestled along Sicily's northern coast, will transform into a vibrant hub of maritime excitement. This year, it proudly hosts the National Area Championship for the Islands of Sicily and Sardinia alongside the esteemed Regatta of Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages. With 22 sailing boats and approximately 200 crew members, the event promises a thrilling blend of competitive spirit, cultural celebration, and community engagement.


Event Highlights:

  • Wednesday, 28 May: Arrival and welcome of participating boats starting at 9:00 AM.

  • Thursday, 29 May: Registration and technical inspections commence at 11:00 AM.

  • Friday, 30 May: Skippers' briefing at 10:30 AM, followed by the inaugural races at 12:00 PM.

  • Saturday, 31 May: Races continue from 11:00 AM.

  • Sunday, 1 June: Final races begin at 11:00 AM, culminating in the awards ceremony at 5:00 PM.


Beyond the Races:

The festivities extend beyond the water. Each day concludes with convivial pasta parties, fostering camaraderie among participants and visitors alike. The grand finale features a vibrant parade led by the Bateria Siciliana, under the artistic direction of Giovanni Parrinello. This dynamic ensemble of frame drummers will march from Piazza Diaz to the Lungomare, infusing the streets with rhythmic energy and celebrating Sicily's rich musical heritage.
