According to tradition, a cow repeatedly knelt at the same spot in the countryside of Chiuddia. Intrigued, local shepherds excavated the area and unearthed an ancient wooden cross, believed to be from the early Christian era. This discovery led to the construction of the Eremo di Santa Croce (Hermitage of the Holy Cross), where the relic is still venerated today.
